LONDON (MNI) - A speech heavy but data light day is on the cards for
Tuesday. The data that is on the calendar is from the US at 1100GMT with the
January NIFB Small Business Index and the February Redbook Retail Sales Index at
1355GMT.
Initial speeches comes from Europe with the ECB Vice-President Luis de
Guindos participating in the ECOFIN meeting in Brussels. At 0820GMT is ECB
Governing Council member Jens Widemann speaking in Pretoria, South Africa.
At 0900GMT is ECB Governing Council member Ewald Nowotny participates in a
conference in Vienna, Austria.
A press briefing on the "Cost of Cash Payments in Retail" is next from BBK
Executive Board member Johannes Beermann in Frankfurt at 1030GMT.
The business optimism index previously had a reading of 104.4. The Redbook
Retail Sales Index previously had a reading of -2.0%.
US Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Jerome Powell is delivering a speech on
economic development in high poverty rural communities in Mississippi, starting
at 1745GMT.
Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank President Esther George is speaking at the
