MNI Global Morning Briefing: ECB Speakers On Deck

(MNI) LONDON

Tuesday sees a limited data calendar with most releases second tier. However, there is a full schedule of policymaker speeches.

The only data expected in Europe is the German consumer confidence release from GFK. Forecasts point to a decline to -1.6 fro, -1.2 previously.

Across the Atlantic, the U.S. advance goods trade gap will published at 1330BST, the same time as the wholesale inventories data. Canadian earnings data will be released at the same time.

The U.S. retail Redbook will be published at 1355BST. The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence data is expected at 1500BST and is expected to slip to 113.8.

Amongst speakers, ECB President Christine Lagarde, VP Luis de Guindos and Executive Board members Isabel Schnabel and Fabio Panetta all speak at the central bank's forum.

Fed Chair Jay Powell and governor Michelle Bowman speak, along with Chicago Fed's Charles Evans, St Louis Fed's James Bullard and Atlanta Fed's Raphael Bostic all speak.
