MNI POLICY: BOJ Ups L/T JGB Buys To JPY400 Bln Vs JPY370 Bln

MNI (London)
TOKYO (MNI) - The Bank of Japan increased the scale purchases of JGBs in
the 5-to-10 year bucket to JPY400 billion from JPY370 billion at the similar
operation held May 29.
The move is aimed at lowering JGB yields, which rose recently on concerns
over the impact of increased bond issuance from July in the wake of Japan's
supplementary budget.
JGB prices opened lower Friday, following the rise in bond yields overseas.
The 10-year yield rose to 0.030% in early trade, up 0.5 basis point from
Thursday's close, hitting the highest level since March 26.
