MNI POLICY: China Hits Back at U.S. for Passing Hong Kong Bill

MNI (London)
BEIJING (MNI) - China said Monday it has suspended reviews of requests for
U.S. military ships and aircraft visiting Hong Kong as a response to President
Donald Trump's signing of into law legislation backing protesters in Hong Kong.
China will also sanction some U.S. non-governmental organizations including
the National Endowment for Democracy, Human Rights Watch and Freedom House for
supporting "extremist and violent activities" in Hong Kong, Hua Chunying, a
spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing.
The U.S. should correct its mistakes and stop interfering with China's
internal affairs, Hua said, adding that China would take further action in
accordance with the development of the situation, defend Hong Kong's stability
and prosperity and firmly safeguard China's sovereignty, security and
development interests.
