MNI BRIEF: China Knowledge-Based Services Export Boost -MOFCOM

China's overall trade in services slowed through the pandemic, but the deficit has narrowed and knowledge-intensive services are outperforming, said Gao Feng, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce said at the weekly regular briefing Thursday.

China's service trade deficit in the first eight months fell 50.6% y/y to CNY515.62 billion, with t travel service imports down 46.2% y/y in the Jan-Aug period, resulting in a 24% drop in overall service imports. He added that China's better international competitiveness in service trade had helped narrow the trade deficit since 2017.
