By Iris Ouyang
BEIJING (MNI) - China's Ministry of Commerce restated Thursday that
Washington should stop trying to impose extended jurisdiction to supress China
companies.
Here are some highlights from the MofCom press briefing:
-China is against any measure by a government to, at will, impose sanctions
on any Chinese company or individual, urging the U.S. to stop its actions and
create conditions for normal trade between the two countries, Gao Feng, ministry
spokesperson said.
-China will continue to further deepen reforms and the best way for China
companies to face down U.S. 'bullying' is to grow stronger, Gao said.
-Gao criticized Washington for using government influence to suppress
Chinese companies business dealings with U.S. firs, specifically pointing to
Huawei.
-The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's warning of Chinese-made drone's
information security risks aims to suppress Chinese companies without any
ground, Gao said.
-China hasn't imposed extra restrictions on imports of American pork amid
escalating of trade tensions, Gao said, noting that any reduction of pork
purchases from the U.S. are business choices.
-China hasn't imposed extra restrictions on the export of rare earths, Gao
said. "China currently manages exports of rare earths through issuing licenses
without any restriction of qualification or quantity," adding that rules hadn't
changed.
-Gao shrugged of U.S. warnings of risks in doing businesses in China,
noting ongoing improvements to the business environment and protection of legal
rights for foreign investors.
