MNI POLITICAL RISK ANALYSIS – Turkey Run-Off Election Briefing

The first round of the Turkish presidential election took place on 14 May and delivered a stronger-than-expected result for incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who fell just short of the majority threshold with 49.5% of the vote. As such, a second-round run-off will take place on 28 May between Erdoğan and runner-up opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. In this briefing we provide an update to the MNI Political Risk Scenario Analysis delivered in our pre-first round preview (which can be found here).
