  • President Joe Biden is continuing his tour of East Asia today following the unveiling of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework this morning. According to the White House, the IPEF will boost ties through common standards in supply-chain resilience, clean energy, infrastructure and digital trade but the reaction in Asia has been lukewarm: 'The problem with the framework is that it sets out a high-level set of intentions, all of which make sense, but until specific agreements are hammered out and agreed to then the actual impact is impossible to gauge.’
  • President Biden made two remarks over the weekend that interested news wires: He said the United States would use military force to defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion and he said that the US would welcome Japan as a permanent member on a reformed United Nations Security Council.
  • The White House is attempting to salvage the Summit of the Americas amid a growing list of countries intending to boycott the summit.
  • Poll of the Day: An increasing number of Republican voters believe that the US is doing too much to support Ukraine.
