- The White House has issued a statement of administration policy “strongly opposing” the Israel Security Assistance Support Act – a Republican bill expected to come up for a House vote today which criticises the Biden administration for withholding some weapons transfers to Israel. Although the bill is expected to pass the House, Democratic leadership are working to reduce the number of Democrat defections which could further expose Biden's political vulnerability on Israel policy.
- President Biden unveiled a raft of new tariffs on USD$18 billion of Chinese imports. The new tariffs come after a USTR statutory four-year review concluded that all 301 tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump on USD$300 billion of Chinese goods should remain in place.
- US Secretary of State Antony Blinken indicated that the Biden administration intends to use powers granted by Congress to seize around USD$5 billion in Russian sovereign assets immobilised in the US.
- A bipartisan group of Senators led by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) have unveiled a multi-year roadmap for Congress to confront the risks and opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence which could cost USD$32 billion per year.
- Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks (D) comfortably won the Maryland Democratic senate primary yesterday, setting up a marque race in the deep blue state against popular former governor Larry Hogan (R).
