MNI POLITICAL RISK- DHS Bill Complicates FY24 Spending Package

Executive Summary:

• Congressional leaders are expected to release the final text of five of the six remaining fiscal year 2024 spending bills on Sunday. With negotiations stalled on the Department of Homeland Security bill due to partisan disagreements on immigration, a full-year continuing resolution on the DHS bill may be included in the package.
• House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) gave more mixed messages on Ukraine/Israel aid at a House Republican retreat yesterday.
• Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) delivered a controversial speech yesterday calling for new elections to replace Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. • Former President Donald Trump may not see any of his four criminal trial start before the presidential election in November after the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg yesterday agreed to delay the New York hush money trial which was due to start on March 25.
• Poll of the Day: Trump's positions on immigration policy are reflected in the Republican base.
