MNI: Tokyo Hits Record High 463 Covid-19 Cases Friday

The Tokyo recorded 463 cases of Covid-19 on Friday, surpassing the previous record-high of 367 recorded on Thursday, the Metropolitan Government said on Friday, local media reported.

Tokyo's Metropolitan Governor requested restaurants, bars and karaoke parlours to reduce operating hours as coronavirus cases in Japan's capital hit a new daily high.

The government will ask establishments to close by 10:00 pm from Monday Aug 3 to the end of the month. Those who comply will be eligible for a subsidy of JPY200,000 ($1,900).
