Moldova to Speed Up Power Plant Permitting

POWER

Moldova has approved new regulations that will allow for construction and commissioning permits needed for power plants above 20MW to be more efficient, the Ministry of Energy said, cited by PV Magazine.

  • The new law will allow for the country’s Authorisation Commission to consider and assess the entirety of the project in terms of grid, compliance and technical credibility.
  • “The new regulation will help renewable energy capacities, in particular those on the free market and without a support scheme, while also providing predictability for investors,” Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said.
  • The country plans to hold its first renewable auction this year, aiming to secure 105MW of wind and 60MW of solar in April-July. The results are anticipated at the end of 2024.
