Morena Party Set For Gubernatorial Election Victory

MEXICO
  • Mexico’s ruling party is set to win a gubernatorial election in the country’s most populous state, ending almost a century of one-party rule in the region and giving momentum to its bid to retain the presidency.
  • The candidate of President AMLO’s Morena party, school teacher and former education minister Delfina Gómez, garnered between 52.1% and 54.2% of the votes. She will be the first female governor of the State of Mexico which has essentially been controlled by the PRI for over nine decades.
