Nagy Calls on Energy Companies to Ease Fuel Prices

  • Much local attention continues to be paid to Orban’s announcement yesterday that the government will “probably” complete the purchase of the majority stake in Budapest airport within the coming days – in line with plans outlined by government earlier in February.
  • The economy minister has called together members of the Hungarian Petroleum Association to discuss the issue of rising fuel prices, which Nagy notes are the highest in the region after abolishing a price cap on fuel in December 2022.
  • Economy Minister Nagy is currently speaking on the government’s strategy to boost competitiveness. Foreign minister Szijjarto is appearing later today in Budapest at an LNG conference.
