JGB futures ticked higher during the morning session, adding 4 ticks, but hit the bell shy of best levels. The cash curve saw some light twist steepening. Core FI markets have edged lower during the Tokyo lunch break.

  • There was little to note on the local front, outside of the previously flagged outline of the impending state of emergency, which is set to be implemented across several prefectures (which of course got plenty of coverage earlier this week). PM Suga has noted that the government will support businesses via provisions in the existing budget.
