NATGAS: Azerbaijan Gas Flows to Europe Rise to 10.6bcm in Jan-Oct

Azerbaijan gas exports to Europe rose from 9.8bcm last year to about 10.6bcm in Jan-Oct 2024, according to Energy Ministry data.

  • Total gas exports from Azerbaijan were up 4.6% y/y to 20.7bcm in the period.
  • The total shipped to Turkey was up to 8.2bcm from 8.1bcm last year while exports to Georgia were unchanged at 1.9bcm.
  • Natural gas production in Jan-July increased by 1.4bcm y/y to 41.5bcm. Azerbaijan marketable natural gas production rose 6.8% y/y in Jan – Oct.
  • Azberbaijan currently exports gas to Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia and has previously stated aims to raise gas exports to Europe to 20bcm by 2027.
  • The European gas market continues to watch for any possible signs that gas flows from Azerbaijan could help replace missing Russian gas transit through Ukraine next year.
