NATGAS: European Gas-to-Power Demand to Rise Above 2023 Levels This Winter

Gas demand for power generation in Europe (Italy, Belgium, UK, Germany and France) is expected at 179mcm/d for the remainder of this winter, well above last winter’s levels, according to BNEF. 

  • Gas-fired power generation in the five countries has increased to 194mcm/d in the first 20 days of November, up from 122mcm/d for all of October.
  • The increase in gas demand is month is due to low wind output in the region in the first half of November.
