NATGAS: US Natural Gas Storage Likely Rose 34 Bcf in Week to Aug. 30: Reuters

NATGAS

US natural gas storage likely saw a below-average build of 34 bcf in the week to Aug. 30, according to a preliminary Reuters survey.

  • As a note of caution, Reuters tend to update their survey estimate as they receive more responses, so this estimate is likely subject to change.
  • The five-year average for this period is a 51 bcf build on the week. In 2023, stocks built by 33 bcf over the same period.
  • If correct, that would take US natural gas storage levels to 3,378 bcf, a surplus of around 11.7% over the five-year average. This would be a fall in the surplus from 12.1% the previous week.
  • The EIA will release the data for the week to Aug. 30 at 10:30 ET (15:30 BST) Sep. 5.
