NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg Speaks After Russia Letter

Stoltenberg: 'We face a critical moment. Russian military buildup continues and more troops are on the way. We call on Russia to immediately de-escalate. Tensions must be resolved through diplomacy not force.'

Stoltenberg: 'We have conveyed our written proposal to Russia. Russia has cut diplomatic dialogue with NATO'.

Way forward: 'We should reestablish offices in Moscow and Brussels and make full use of existing military-to-military channel to improve transparency.'

Stoltenberg: NATO prepared to listen to Russian concerns. Engage in a reevaluation of fundamental principles of European security. Russia should refrain from posturing and withdraw forces from Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova and engage in dialogue to settle conflicts via diplomacy.
