NBH May Hike 1W Depo By 100bps As Selling Pressure On HUF Has Been Surging

  • The NBH did not hesitate to act via the 1W depo facility the last time when the selling pressure on HUF was that strong.
  • A depreciating forint has been supporting inflation expectations ('public enemy').
  • Even though the NBH has been keen on reducing the frequency of hikes to a monthly basis, the central bank could proceed with a 100bps hike tomorrow to limit the downside risk on HUF.
