NBP's Kochalski Does Not Rule Out Small Rate Cut This Year

  • "I stand by what I said last November, that rates may remain unchanged this year,” Kochalski told Bloomberg. “However, I wouldn’t categorically rule out a small rate cut in the second half of the year if I was sure that reaching the inflation target in the medium term is not at risk.”
  • Kochalski’s comments cast some doubt on guidance from central bank Governor Adam Glapinski, who said that the MPC would probably not find a majority ready to back rate cuts or hikes this year, Bloomberg write.
