Net Assets Grow For 1st Week In 4

ECB

ECB net asset purchases came in at +E3.1bln last week, following three consecutive weekly contractions.

  • PEPP net assets rose by E0.3bln, the first rise since mid-October, including E3.1bln of redemptions. PSPP redemptions were a relatively small E1.1bln, leaving net purchases at E2.3bln.
  • Each of the Covered Bond, CSPP, and ABS portfolios grew modestly, with very limited redemptions.
  • Net assets in the monetary policy securities portfolios stand at E4.942trn, down just E18bln from the end of net asset purchases in July.
  • There won't be further progress in winding down the balance sheet until QT begins - ECB's de Cos said last week that a start date may be announced at the December meeting (which is in line with current sell-side thinking).
