New 2023 Global LNG Export Capacity Lowest Since 2013

Four new LNG export projects are expected online in 2023 with a combined capacity of 1.0Bcf/d according to EIA.

  • The total annual LNG capacity additions will be the lowest since 0.7 Bcf/d in 2013 according to the GIIGNL.
  • In 2014-2022 annual LNG capacity additions ranged from a low of 1.8 Bcf/d in 2021 to a high of 5.6 Bcf/d in 2018.
  • New projects for 2023 are:
    • The Greater Tortue Floating LNG (FLNG) offshore Mauritania and Senegal (0.3 Bcf/d capacity)
    • The Tango Floating LNG offshore the Republic of Congo (0.1 Bcf/d capacity).
    • Tangguh LNG Train 3 in West Papua, Indonesia (0.5 Bcf/d capacity),
    • Sengkang LNG in South Sulawesi, Indonesia (0.1 Bcf/d capacity).
