NHK Circulates List Of Expected Cabinet Replacements

JAPAN

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is preparing to announce a reshuffle of his Cabinet and ruling party executives today.

  • The new Cabinet line-up has apparently been finalised. It includes 9 freshers, while 5 experienced politicians are re-joining the executive branch. Public broadcaster NHK leaked the full list of Cabinet appointments. Note that this is not an official list.
  • Mainichi reported that seven ministers with proven links to the Unification Church will be replaced as the Prime Minister seeks to address the decline in the approval ratings of his administration.
  • Kishida is expected to collect letters of resignation from ministers at an extraordinary Cabinet meeting today. The revamped administration will be launched in the afternoon, with Kishida set to hold a press conference.
