Nigeria Targets Higher Production to Try and Get Higher OPEC Quota

Adding to earlier Nigeria snippet about increasing crude production to 1.6 million barrels a day in October from current levels of 1.3mn bpd.

  • The purpose of the move is to try and increase Nigeria’s OPEC quota after the country was forced to accept lower 2024 levels because of persistent underperformance.
  • “A new conversation will come,” Mele Kyari, managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Co said, adding that he’s confident of securing a higher quota when OPEC completes its assessment toward the end of the year.
