Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery Buys at Least 4 Dec. Cargoes

Nigeria’s new 650k b/d Dangote refinery has purchased at least 4-5 cargoes of domestic crude to load in December, according to Bloomberg citing traders.

  • The first crude cargo for Nigeria’s new refinery is on route according to Platts. The OTIS tanker is carrying a 950k bbk cargo of Agbami crude and expected to arrive Dec. 7. It was purchased from Shell, Bloomberg said.
  • Dangote has also secured a cargo of Bonny Light Crude from Nidas for mid-Dec loading and at least one cargo each of Amenam and CJ Blend crude.
  • NNPC Trading was the seller of Amenam and CJ Blend cargoes, according to sources.
  • The arrivals may indicate that the refinery is about to start fuel production after the project was reportedly completed in May.
  • Once fully operational, the refinery can produce 327k b/d of gasoline, 244k b/d of gasoil, 56k b/d of jet fuel and 290k b/d of LPG.
