LNG

pot LNG cargoes into Northwest Europe and Italy have eased in recent weeks given fewer exports from the US, Bloomberg data showed.

  • Northwest Europe and Italy received around 4.2mn tons of LNG over the past six weeks. The weekly volume fell from around 0.9mn tons in the second half of April to as low as 0.5mn tons during 15-21 May.
  • Six-week spot imports into Japan, South Korea, mainland China and Taiwan were the second highest at 2.9mn tons. Meanwhile South Asia and the rest of Europe received roughly 1.5mn tons of spot shipments each.
  • The US shipped 5.3mn tons of spot LNG in the last six week, but weekly US spot exports have been gradually declining, possibly due to Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass terminal prioritizing contract deliveries prior to major summer maintenance.
