Norway To Maintain High Gas Output Until 2030

Norway's energy minister Terje Aasland has told Reuters that he expects Norway to "...maintain the production levels we are at now until 2030."

  • Aasland: "We see that there are projects and also plans for development and operations coming now that can help maintain the high gas volumes going forwards."
  • According to Reuters, Norway is set to produce a five-year high of 122 billion cubic meters of gas this year.
  • Aasland also ruled out the prospect of a windfall tax on the oil and gas industry, arguing that additional revenue during periods of high energy prices form the basis for future investment and transformation of the energy sector.
