Norway’s Sverdrup 2 Outage Extended

The planned restart of the process platform on Equinor’s Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 oilfield has been postponed due to an equipment fault, and repairs are now ongoing, a company spokesperson told Reuters.

  • “Start-up of production on Process platform no. 2 is now delayed due to an equipment fault that occurred when starting after a couple of days from a cold platform,” Equinor said.
  • Sverdrup’s second process platform began production in mid-December. It has a capacity of 185kbpd although it had not reached this level year ahead of last week’s outage.
  • Sverdrup’s first process platform is unaffected and produces a stable 535kbpd, Equinor said.
