NSW Premier Resigns, Faces Corruption Probe

AUSTRALIA

New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian says she will step down after the Independent Commission Against Corruption said they will launch a probe into her conduct between 2021 and 2018. No replacement has been named yet, while Berejiklian told reporters that she has "been given no option."

  • Separately, Australian Prime Minister Morrison pushed back against the potential for a snap election after announcing a Cabinet reshuffle. The Cabinet rejig was limited to a handful of portfolios and came after the resignation of Industry Minister Christian Porter, who accepted an anonymous donation to help cover legal fees in a defamation case.
