Nuclear Chief: We Want Normal Relations w/IAEA

Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation Mohammad Eslami has stated that Iran's "nuclear program is peaceful and does not conflict with IAEA safeguards We want normal relations with IAEA away from double standards". Confirms that he has provided the IAEA with documents to the International Atomic Energy Agency relating to 'outstanding issues'.

  • Comes a day after gov't spox Ali Bahadori Jahromi confirms that President Ebrahim Raisi will present “the Comprehensive Strategic Document for Nuclear Development” this coming Saturday.
  • The document is set to outline, according to the regime-linked Tehran Times, "a nuclear doctrine" that , "... sets the stage for the construction of power plants with a production capacity of up to 10,000 MW."
  • Talks in Vienna on the JCPoA (the nuclear deal) have made little-to-no progress in recent weeks, with international focus squarely set on the war in Ukraine.
