NW Europe LNG Cargo Arrivals Dip to 51 in September

LNG

LNG cargo arrivals into NW Europe were slightly down on the month totaling 51 in September compared to 53 in August and 52 in July according to Bloomberg tanker tracking data. A total of 61% of the cargoes in September originated from US, with 14% from Russia and 6% from Qatar and Norway.

  • LNG sendout to Europe was relatively in line with levels seen in the last couple of weeks at 275mcm/d on 1 Oct and still well below levels around 375mcm/d seen this time last year.
  • LNG volumes at sea are increasing as cargoes wait for higher demand and higher priced periods for delivery. However, an LNG vessel which originated from Nigeria a month ago is set to unload on 8 Oct according to Bloomberg. The total estimated quantity of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 20 days increased 39% over the last week to 4.1mn tons as of 2 Oct, the highest level since November 2022.
  • Northwest Europe is currently scheduled to receive about 20 cargoes in the next couple of weeks.
