KIWI
KIWI: NZD/USD trades at session lows of $0.6755 at writing, down 15 pips on the
day, as Kiwi underperforms across the G10 currency board after round tripping on
Monday.
- The pair spiked ~20 pips lower late Monday after WSJ cited U.S. Pres Trump
calling holding off on 25% tariffs on imports from China "highly unlikely".
- Meanwhile, NZ trade balance figures hit the wires late Monday, indicating that
trade deficit's contraction was significantly smaller than expected, which may
have added some pressure on NZD.
- Bears need a clean break below yesterday's lows at $0.6756 before challenging
the 21-DMA at $0.6744. Conversely, bulls eye the psychological $0.6800 level and
a break above would shift their focus to yesterday's highs of $0.6816.
- NZ highlights this week include the release of RBNZ Financial Stability Report
and two related appearances by RBNZ Gov Orr on Wednesday.
