Offshore Buying Of Japan Stocks Continues For 10th Straight Week

Weekly investment flow data showed similar trends to recent weeks. Foreign buying of Japan stocks continued, with a further ¥610.9bn in inflows, versus ¥379.3bn in the prior week. This is the 10th straight week of inflows. Offshore outflows from local bonds continued for the second straight week, -¥537.9bn, although aggregate flows are still positive over the past month/6 weeks.

  • In terms of Japan offshore flows, buying of offshore bonds remained positive, ¥524.7bn, while foreign purchases of offshore stocks also rose, but not enough to offset last week's outflow, see the table below.
