OIL: Alberta Oil Output Rises Above 4m b/d For the First Time Since March

Alberta’s oil output rose 115.9k b/d to 4m b/d in July, the highest since March, Alberta Energy Regulator data shows.

  • Oil-sands production increased 115.6k b/d on higher mined output, offset by a drop in oil-sands well output to the lowest since January amid a curtailment of Suncor’s Firebag due to wildfire.
  • Conventional oil output fell 3.9k b/d to 534.7k b/d.
  • Condensate production from wells rose to 84.4k b/d, the highest since Dec. 2022.
  • Total oil production for the first seven months of 2024 was 199k b/d.
