Venezuela’s 2024 Oil Flows Hit 5-Year High

Crude oil exports from Venezuela rose for a second straight year to a 5-year high in 2024, boosted by the temporary easing of sanctions, Bloomberg said citing Kpler data.

  • Jan-Dec exports climbed to 555k b/d, up 7.7% on the year and the highest since sanctions were imposed by the first Trump administration in 2019.
  • Volumes to the US climbed to a six-year high of 234k b/d, while volumes to China fell to 183k b/d, the lowest since at least 2017.
  • Total exports in December fell 28% on the month to a 5-month low of 482k b/d.
  • The US received 295 b/d of Venezuelan crude in December, the highest since Jan. 2019.
