OIL: Kazakhstan's Kashagan Delays Repairs by 4-Days

Repairs at Kazakhstan’s giant Kashagan field have been postponed until October 7 the energy ministry said to Reuters on Thursday. 

  • Kazakhstan's energy ministry previously said on September 25 that Kashagan would halt production for 38 days to conduct maintenance - likely beginning on Oct. 3, suggesting this is a 4-day delay.
  • No reason has been given for the delay.
  • Black Sea CPC Blend oil firmed to 7-year record premium against dated Brent due to the upcoming Kashagan maintenance it was reported in late September.
