Russian fuel oil exports are set to rebound the highest since February 2022, according to Bloomberg, after flows plummeted in 2022 due to western sanctions.

  • Exports are expected to rise to about 852kbpd in September, based on Vortexa data, if cargoes are shipped as planned.
  • Muted activity at secondary refining units amid autumn maintenance and unplanned shutdowns may have enabled more supply available for exports.
  • Most exports are heading to Asia and are expected to continue in the coming months to keeping a lid on fuel oil cracks, Vortexa said.
