OIL: Trump Tariff Threat Would Disrupt US Oil Flows: Vortexa

US President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to impose 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports also includes crude oil, according to Vortexa’s Pamela Munger, citing Reuters.
- Assuming Trump follows through with the tariff threat:
- PADD 5 will likely go back to pre TMC flows, with imports from Ecuador, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia rising again.
- This means that crude from TMX and Western Canada will have to price itself lower to get cleared in mainly Asian markets.
- PADD 3 may be forced into importing more Middle East grades, Munger said.
- In the US Midwest, they may have to deal with higher gasoline prices as it will be difficult to replace the Canadian crude used currently in the region’s refineries.
