OMV Schwechat Refinery Touted for Q3 Restart

REFINING

OMV expect its closed Schwechat refinery near Vienna to be operational in the second half of Q3.

  • "The refinery is expected to be fully operational and operating at full capacity again in the second half of Q3/22," OMV said in an official trading update.
  • The refinery was reported in mid-June to be running at 20% capacity after an explosion in a crude distillation unit which has proved harder to fix than initially thought. The explosion occurred in early June.
  • OMV has been buying additional refined products from Germany, Romania and the Middle East via the ports of Trieste and Koper to cover the product shortfall.
