Opposition Candidate Yoon Maintains Lead In Pre-Election Polling

SOUTH KOREA

The latest opinion survey by Realmeter showed that the main opposition People Power Party's (PPP) presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl is leading his ruling Democratic Party (DP) rival Lee Jae-myung by 6.5pp. Support for Yoon stood at 44.0%, with Lee trailing with 37.5%, with other candidates polling in low single digits.

  • The approval rating of President Moon Jae-in was 40.5%, while 56.8% of respondents expressed disapproval.
  • Support for the PPP registered at 39.4%, while the DP polled at 33.1%. The People's Party received 6.9%, the Open Democratic Party was at 5.5%, with the Justice Party at 3.8%.
  • The survey was conducted last week, with a 1.8pp margin of error.
