Orban Urges West to Make ‘Deal’ With Putin

  • The West should make a “deal” with Russian President Putin on Ukraine’s new security architecture, which shouldn’t include the return of Crimea nor membership in the NATO military alliance, Prime Minster Orban said an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. He also said the best chance for peace was for former US President Donald Trump to return to power and for him to end military support to Ukraine.
  • Foreign Minister Szijjarto told a panel discussion that the EU was "in bad shape" with its security, economy and energy supplies weakened, MTI report. The situation was, he said, the result of "a series of failed measures and a lack of action."
  • Representatives of Hungary and Slovenia have finalised a cooperation agreement under which "construction of a natural gas interconnector has been granted the green light", Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Facebook on Tuesday.
  • There are no data releases scheduled for the remainder of the day. PPI data will cross tomorrow, while both the final reading of Q2 GDP data (Est: -2.4% y/y) and Manufacturing PMI data is on the docket on Friday.
