Output Disrupted at Libya’s Sharara, El Feel Oil Fields

Protests have shut down production at Libya’s 300kbpd Sharara oil field and have also halted output the 65kbpd El Feel field, sources told Bloomberg.

  • Several news outlets confirmed Tuesday that the Sharara oil field was shutting down after a group of people had entered the field in 20 vehicles, demanding jobs, services and a new refinery, according to a letter signed by a board member at the state company.
  • Bloomberg reported Tuesday night that production at the El Feel field was also halted.
  • Most recently in July protests shut down production at both oil fields that lasted four days from 13-17 July.
