Parliament Debates Pension Reforms, ANO Tops Opinion Poll

  • The Chamber of Deputies resumes a debate on the government's pension reforms designed to reduce budget deficits. Opposition parties ANO and SPD are against the measures and have been trying to delay their adoption. The lower house may vote on the legislative proposal later today.
  • The latest Median agency survey showed that if a general election was held in June, the ANO party would emerge as a winner with 35.5% of the vote. Prime Minister Petr Fiala's ODS would come second with 14%, while his five-party coalition would garner the combined 37.5% of the vote. In terms of broader trends, ANO continued to widen the gap with runners-up.
