Parliament Eyes Lifting opposition Immunity, Greece-Turkey Talks Yield Poor Results

  • Turkish Parliament files new motions to consider lifting immunity for 10 main opposition deputies, including CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
    • Motions name 7 CHP & 3 HDP lawmakers. Move follows similar procedures initiated against 11 other HDP deputies last week as Erdogan cracks down on the opposition.
    • Process from here is state prosecutors submit a summary of proceedings to parliament, while then votes to continue investigation and legal proceedings
  • Turkish & Greek FMs point fingers in live press event yesterday following bilateral talks on the Aegean & Easts Med. "Greece will impose sanctions if Turkey violates our sovereign rights" – Denidas.
    • Cavusoglu said Denidas made "some unacceptable allegations against Turkey", "if you want to continue tensions, you can, and we can as well but we caw that the EU states you rely on would not be of any good." The meeting ended with calls for dialogue, but saw little positive progress
  • Turkey provides US a non-paper roadmap to proceed on bilateral ties. Cavusoglu says it spoke abut S-400s, FETO and support given by US to terrorist organisations.
