Parliament To Debate No-Confidence Motion

CZECHIA
  • Prime Minister Petr Fiala's Cabinet will face a no-confidence vote in the lower house of parliament. The government dismissed the motion tabled by ANO as part of the presidential campaign of the movement's leader Andrej Babis. The motion will be debated from 10:00CET/09:00GMT. It is widely expected to fail as the government commands an absolute majority in parliament and survived the previous no-confidence vote a few months ago.
  • Petr Pavel and Andrej Babis are back on campaign trail after advancing to the presidential run-off. Mlada Fronta Dnes reported that Pavel will campaign in regions where he received the least support as he seeks to persuade some of Babis' voters. He will hold a joint media briefing with Danuse Nerudova this morning, who is expected to confirm her support for his presidential bid.
  • The CNB is set to publish changes to its balance sheet in the first 10 days of the month.
