Pavel Signs Pension Bill, Current Account Balance On Tap

CZECHIA
  • President Petr Pavel said he will sign a bill slowing pension growth but backed a call for for a constitutional review of the process of adopting the law. At the same time, he urged government officials to negotiate with the opposition on the proposal to freeze the salaries of constitutional officials. Pavel's decision to sign the bill came under criticism from the opposition ANO and SPD parties. ANO's Alena Schillerova said that the party's team has already started working on a formal constitutional complaint.
