Venezuela's 140kbpd El Palito refinery will be operating at full capacity within two months, according to Argusmedia, citing the Iranian engineering company NIOEC.

  • The facility has been offline for most of the past ten months. Some of the units are operational and produced around 20kbpd of diesel and gasoline, a source told Argusmedia.
  • NIOEC has been carrying out critical repairs, after signing an agreement in May 2022 to revamp the facility.
  • "Some of the refining units have already begun working following the completion of major repairs. But there is still work ongoing on several other units, including the distillation column and the vacuum distillation unit (VDU), NIOEC CEO Farhad Ahmadi said.
  • Venezuela aims to produce 900kbpd of crude in June, PDVSA president Pedro Tellecha said. Output reached 838kbpd in May and the company aims to produce 1mbpd by August.
