Permian Gas Pipeline Financing Approved

US pipeline operator Kinder Morgan has approved financing to expand a gas pipeline that brings volumes from fields in west Texas to export hubs near Houston.

  • The decision coincides with higher demand to export LNG cargoes out of the US Gulf to both Europe and Asia. European demand has hiked as an alternative source to Russian gas.
  • The Permian Highway Pipeline currently carries 2.1 billion cfd – the expansion would add 550 million cfd, with higher capacity starting November 2023.
