Peruvian Sol The Major Monday Beneficiary (+2.2%)

LATAM FX
  • LATAM FX: Peruvian Sol the major beneficiary on Monday. PEN leads global gains and is on track for its biggest daily gain since April 2016 after a Sunday poll showed pro-market presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori catching up with left-wing opponent Pedro Castillo.
  • USDPEN reached lows of 3.6925 before stabilising at 3.7250, consolidating losses of 2.17% for the session.
  • USDCOP also retreated despite the backdrop of political turmoil across the nation. President Ivan Duque said issues raised by young demonstrators would be included in national discussions meant to curb nearly two weeks of anti-government protests, as he made a brief visit to Cali, the scene of violence over the weekend. Duque is due to meet with strike leaders in the capital Bogota later on Monday.
